Blog Community Reflecting on the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Dr. Martin Luther King is remembered for his soaring speeches and timeless quotes, but his legacy was built on a day-to-day struggle.

Whether protesting for equal voting rights, taking on discriminatory housing policy, or fighting for fair access to jobs and economic opportunity, Dr. King was propelled by the dignity he recognized within every human being, and he faced injustice with courage and persistence.

At NKCDC, we believe that building a better world starts with reaching out to help our neighbors—and the best way to celebrate Dr. King’s legacy this Monday is by doing just that.

Martin Luther King Day is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service to encourage all United States citizens to volunteer to improve their communities. On Monday, thousands of Philadelphians will participate in the largest Martin Luther King Day event in the nation.

We invite you to join NKCDC in honoring Dr. King’s legacy. Find opportunities at mlkdayofservice.org.
