Contracted Part-Time Seasonal Retail Supervisor

Job Description 

NKCDC is seeking a Contracted Part-Time Seasonal Retail Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of a vendor booth at this year’s Christmas Village market in Love Park. The supervisor will provide exceptional customer service and support retail associates by managing schedules and day-to-day activity at the booth.  

Project Background 

NKCDC’s vendor booth at Christmas Village in Love Park will highlight Kensington’s unique entrepreneurial community and include items from local vendors, such as packaged food products, baked goods, candles, soaps, jewelry and books. 

 

Responsibilities 

  • Complete training ahead of market opening to develop product knowledge and practice engagement skills  
  • Supervise retail associates, ensuring accountability and efficient service 
  • Coordinate daily schedules, breaks and staffing 
  • Monitor sales, inventory and customer feedback 
  • Handle customer any concerns or complaints, resolve issues promptly 
  • Maintain accurate records of sales, inventory and customer interactions 
  • Collaborate with NKCDC staff, Christmas Village staff and vendors to ensure a cohesive market experience 
  • Open and close booth, managing cash handling and security procedures 

Qualifications 

  • 2+ years of retail or supervising experience 
  • Excellent leadership, communication and customer service skills 
  • Proven ability to manage inventory, sales and staff 
  • Basic math skills and accuracy with cash handling 
  • Ability to life up to 25 pounds and stand for long periods of time  
  • Familiarity with retail operations and inventory management 
  • Availability to work various shifts per week from Saturday, November 23rd until Tuesday, December 24th, including early evenings, weekends, Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve. Minimum 20 hours. 
  • Reliable transportation to and from Center City 

 

 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Knowledge of Kensington and familiarity with its local small business community 
  • Previous experience managing a retail team 
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills 
  • Familiarity with Square point-of-sale system and Microsoft 365 products 

 

Compensation 
The rate for this contracted position will be $23.91/hr. with a part-time schedule, 20 hours per week. Scheduled work hours are from 12-9 pm daily throughout the duration of the Christmas Village market, including Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Eve.

Hiring process
