Blog Community What you did in 2018

NKCDC works for and with Kensington, Port Richmond and Fishtown residents and businesses. In 2018, we were able to complete tremendous depth and variety of work because of your support.

  • 6,511 people attended 55 of our events. One of those events was a Block Build that marked our first home repair partnership with Rebuilding Together Philadelphia. Because of that partnership and your efforts, NKCDC was able to provide repairs for 33 homes in Kensington.

  • Community members stepped up to become more involved on their blocks and in their neighborhoods. NKCDC trained 20 block leaders and 38 Community Connectors.

  • Business owners and entrepreneurs took the risk to invest more in their properties and their ideas. 50 River Wards businesses were referred to Storefront Improvement, SafeCam, ASEZ Business Expansion, and InStore programs. 31 applicants to the Reimagine Kensington Storefront Challenge resulted in 9 award winners.

NKCDC offers housing services for anyone living in Philadelphia. Because you and your neighbors referred friends and contacted us for housing assistance, 227 NKCDC clients purchased homes and 770 households received energy assistance in 2018.
