Blog NKCDC NKCDC seeks a new executive director

New Kensington Community Development Corporation (NKCDC) is beginning the process of finding a new permanent executive director after the unexpected passing of Felix Torres-Colon.

In close partnership with the 17-member board of directors and a 41-person staff, the executive director will provide strategic vision and leadership to steward the organization in a time of unexpected transition and consolidation of focus in our expanded service area. They will work to ensure that NKCDC continues to serve as a leader in the community and economic development field, providing quality services to residents and creatively working with others to provide innovative and bold approaches to improving the community.

The NKCDC Board of Directors and staff have worked together to craft an updated job description and form a search committee. The board decided not to hire an external search consultant and instead will work closely with NKCDC communications and human resources staff to share the opportunity and process resumes. Please help us by forwarding the job description link or this email to your networks!

The search committee includes board members, staff members, a resident of Orinoka Civic House (the NKCDC apartment building where our offices are located), a community member, and former Executive Director, Sandy Salzman. The search committee will meet while NKCDC is collecting resumes to determine the internal review process and ensure the process is equitable.

After the application period closes on Tuesday, June 30 per an extension, the committee is tasked with conducting phone interviews and recommending three candidates to meet with staff and be interviewed in person by the full board. The board of directors has the final decision-making responsibility for selecting NKCDC’s next executive director.
