About Coral Street

Coral Street Arts House was a vacant textile mill in East Kensington, Philadelphia. NKCDC completed a $7.5 million renovation in 2006, converting it into an income based apartment building with live-work space for artists and their families. Part of an NKCDC strategy for community improvement through investment in the arts, the Arts House spurred rehabilitation of other vacant industrial buildings in the neighborhood.

Living at Coral Street

Coral Street Arts House has 27 one and two-bedroom apartments, and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The space is modern industrial with exposed brick and original wood floors with large windows that provide natural light. Bedrooms have exposed brick and original wooden beams. There is on-site laundry. bike storage and parking. The building’s community space is available to residents and the public.

Coral Street Arts House is located at 2446-68 Coral St., Philadelphia, a five minute walk from the from the York-Dauphin stop on the Market-Frankford El and easily accessible to three SEPTA bus lines.

Income limits

Each income based apartment is designed to be affordable for individuals or families earning between 40% and 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI) for Philadelphia County. Rents are based on your household income at the time you move in. Depending on your household size, you can have no more than the following household income to qualify for apartments at 40%, 50% or 60% AMI:
